Mother's Day Gift Ideas That Are Functional As Well As Thoughtful

It's hard to buy gifts for moms because they have everything they "need" and they really don't want one more mug or trinket that they have to make room for.

If there's anything I dislike (and I'm guessing plenty of other moms out there feel the same), it's needless junk cluttering the house.

So I've been looking through gift ideas for moms that are both functional as well as thoughtful so that you can give the special moms and grandmas in your life something that shows you've been thinking of them but also something they're going to be excited about.

I've listed a few of the most popular items in this post, but if you want to see my complete list, you can view it on my amazon storefront.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas That Are Functional And Thoughtful

Pampering Gifts

These are around-the-house type gifts that aren't essential, per se, but just make you feel good.

House Slippers - These are becoming almost an essential item for women as homes are trending more toward hard wood floors and LVP instead of carpet. As someone who uses house slippers regularly, I can attest to the fact that they help my feet to not hurt after spending so much time walking on hard floor all day. There are two brands that I particularly recommend based on their comfort and style, these Everfoam Slippers (Sponsored) due to their cozy look, thicker sole, and footbed design and these GOEWY Slippers (Sponsored) due to their anti-slip rubber bottoms and soft fabric on every surface that touches your feet. If this seems like a silly gift, trust me, it's not. Once your loved one starts using these, they'll wonder why they waited so long to get a pair.

Cooling Pillow - Now, I'm not saying this is an amazing gift, but when was the last time you bought yourself a nice pillow? Now think about your mom/wife/daughter/friend. Their pillows are probably as old as that, if not older, so getting someone a nice pillow is actually a pretty thoughtful gift, when you think about it.

What makes this cooling pillow stand out to me is that it's a COOLING pillow. There's a particular demographic of women (*cough* *cough* menopause...) who frequently complain about waking up with hot sweats and drenched hair. I doubt this pillow can take away all of these complaints, but it might help a little. It also says it's great for neck pain, which is a complaint for pretty much everyone over the age of 29, right? So check it out and see if this might just be the perfectly thoughtful (and completely functional) gift you've been looking for.

Bath Pillow - While we're on the subject of pillows, if you know someone who LOVES relaxing in the bath after a long day, this (Sponsored) bath pillow (yes, it's a thing) would be a dream come true for them. This gift is truly a pamper yourself type of gift, but it still has a purpose besides cluttering up your home and will be appreciated by a bath lover much more than another small trinket to be put on a shelf.

Silk Pillowcase - And you know what, since we're still talking about pillows, let me just mention one of my favorite things (and the perfect gift IMO), these Mulberry Silk Pillow Cases. True silk is cooling, breathable, and great for your hair and skin. I bought these for me and my husband as Christmas gifts and I have truly loved sleeping on them each night. Plus they have a hidden zipper on the "open" end so that your pillow won't ever fall out.

Outdoor/Gardening Gifts

Tons of women love to garden, and if you need a gift for someone with a green thumb, check out these thoughtful gift ideas:

Garden Kneeler/Seat - This is basically the luxury version of a kneeling mat for the garden. It's actually a seat that you can raise and lower so that you can kneel several inches off the ground (in case kneeling on the ground just isn't feasible anymore) or you can sit on it to garden more comfortably or even prune bushes while you rest. This would be an ideal gift for that special woman in your life who isn't as young as she used to be (but is still young at heart!). This comes with a gardening organizer bag and a tool pouch attached to the seat for easy access to whatever tools you need.

10 Piece Garden Set - Yes, your mom/wife/friend probably already has all of these tools if they love to garden, but I'm sure they'd appreciate new ones that aren't covered in dirt from the past ten years. Plus, these are a matching set with such a beautiful design on each piece and it comes with a organizer/bag to hold each tool in place.

28" Wind Chimes - I know some women that absolutely love wind chimes. The soothing sounds as the breeze rustles by helps them relax, be in the moment, and take time to think. This 2 pack has over 7000 reviews and 4.7 stars, plus it's on sale right now for about $10 off.

Gadgets, Gizmos, and Other Stuff

Digital Picture Frame - We've gotten one of these for my parents and my in-laws and they both love it! It's a great way for them to stay connected and up to date on their grandkids' lives even if they don't live close by (and even if they do, they still love it!). They simply set up an account, and then all their kids can download the app and start uploaded photos directly to the frame. We use this Frameo Digital Frame and it works well if you need something more budget friendly, but I prefer this Skylight Frame for ease of use. Either one will do the job, Frameo you can only upload 10 videos at a time (unless you pay/subscribe) whereas Skylight you can upload way more in one go.

Fullstar Vegetable Chopper (Sponsored) - With over 100,000 reviews on Amazon, I think this thing kind of speaks for itself. If you know someone who either wants to start eating healthier, or already eats healthy but spends way too much time chopping veggies, you'll want to check this out. It's got several types of dicers and blades and can cut whole veggies in seconds.

Nightstand Lamp with Wireless Charger - I don't know why this product is speaking to me right now, but I've come across it several times and thought that would be a great gift for a mom. I love that it's a phone charger as well as a lamp and the light seems like a pretty good dimmable one so that you can even use it as a night light.

Is That All?

Nope, that's not even half of the items I've found for mother's day gifts. If none of these items have been what you're looking for then head on over to my Amazon Storefront to see the rest of the Mother's Day gift items I've got there. There are some cute blouses, classy jewelry (on a budget), and some more unique ideas that might just be what you're looking for.
