Every Fall my hands start drying out. They crack and bleed and eventually I look like I've been in a gnarly bar fight, and that's how my hands look until the Spring. I just thought that's how my hands were and I didn't realize there was an easy solution I could use to decrease the dryness and prevent cracked, bleeding skin.
Last year, though, I also noticed my scalp was getting dried out, and when I Googled it, I learned that cheap soaps are to blame, and that you actually need to get soaps without certain chemicals to keep your scalp from drying out.
Well, turns out, soap is a major player to blame in your cracked hands as well. I was skeptical about it, but after a few weeks of changing soaps, my cracked skin healed and I didn't get any new cuts. And then, even more shocking, when I'd wash my hands somewhere else, even after one wash my skin started cracking again. I was shocked! That was enough proof to me that my hand soap mattered and that I needed to use the good stuff all Winter long.
Now, I don't buy name brand if the knock off product is just as good, so believe me when I say the knock off hand soap you're using, IS NOT AS GOOD. I tell you this because, if you want your hands to stay smooth this Winter, you're gonna need to spend more than $1.50 on hand soap. It's not crazy expensive, but it's more like $4 per bottle. Maybe that's not a big deal to you, but I'm such a cheapskate that it took me about a month after finding out I needed better soap to actually buy it. But once I did, I was so glad I had.
Okay, so now that I've got you thoroughly prepared, here are some of the best hand soaps to prevent dry, cracked hands during the Fall and Winter.
1. Dove Advanced Care Deep Moisture - This is the stuff I use and I love it! It smells great, keeps my hands from getting dried out, and it comes in a 4-pack so I don't have to reorder it every few weeks.
2. Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Hand Soap - This is another great soap to keep your skin smooth and clean. My parents use this at their house and I never have to worry about what a hand washing at their house will do to my skin.
3. Kirk's Hydrating Hand Wash - This soap is great if you want something fragrance free that'll still make your hands feel clean. I personally love scented soaps, but I know some people just want clean hands without a scent.
I hope you find something that works for you and your skin. I've personally used all of these products and can attest to the fact that they work (for me, at least).
